Minister Kent extends warm wishes to Chabad of Green Lane on the occasion of their annual Hanukkah Celebration

Today at the Chabad of Green Lane Synagogue in Markham, Hershel Recht, Senior Advisor to Thornhill’s MP and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (Americas), Peter Kent delivered greetings on the occasion of their annual Hanukkah celebration. Musical entertainment was provided by Chaim Fogelman, (The Musical Rabbi) and the Torah Tots pre-school choir. Also in attendance were His Worship Mayor Frank Scarpitti of Markham who was honoured with lighting the first candle on the Menorah. As well, Deputy Mayor Jack Heath, Regional Councilor Gordon Landon and Ward 1 Councilor Valerie Burke who all extended very warm greetings to the assembled. After the concert and ceremony, guests were treated to a delicious menu of Hot Dogs, Latkas and Sufganiyot (Fried Jelly Donuts).
Chabad of Markham was founded in 1985 by Rabbi and Rebbetzin Avraham Plotkin in Markham Ontario with a mandate to educate and assist in the spiritual development of Markham’s growing Jewish community and specifically those of South African descent.
