The 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games — certainly one of our country’s most prestigious international gatherings — provide a once-in-a-generation opportunity for Canadians to celebrate the achievements and excellence of our nation. These Games have the capacity to unify countries around the world as they cheer for their competitors. The 2010 Winter Games will be a time for Canada to showcase our athletes, as well as our culture and our hospitality. These will truly be “Canada’s Games.”
The Government of Canada recognizes the tremendous potential of the Games. With some 3 billion people from around the world watching, we have a unique opportunity to promote our country. All have been working hard to ensure that the 2010 Winter Games are the best ever!
In planning for the 2010 Winter Games, we are promoting health and fitness; demonstrating our country’s diverse culture; and most importantly, building a legacy for businesses, communities, and Canadians long after the Games have ended.
Sincerely,
Hon. Peter Kent, P.C., M.P.
