Thornhill community organizations are encouraged to apply
Thornhill, February 9, 2018 – The Hon. Peter Kent, Member of Parliament for Thornhill, is encouraging local service providers and organizations to apply for funding that will support programs that address persons with disabilities. Such programs aim help participants prepare to obtain, and maintain employment or self-employment.
This Federal Government Program is designed to fund new projects through the Opportunities Fund for Persons with Disabilities.
Eligible organizations can submit a proposal under one or both of the following two streams:
Stream 1: Skills and Employment
Proposals under the Skills and Employment stream include all activities involving participants (i.e. persons with disabilities) and activities to help employers prepare the workplace for the integration of persons with disabilities.
Stream 2: Working with Employers
Proposals under the Working with Employers stream include activities aiming to raise the profile of persons with disabilities within the employer community and to help employers prepare the workplace for the integration of persons with disabilities.
In a personal message to his constituency, Mr. Kent stated, “this is a good opportunity for eligible organizations in Thornhill to work collaboratively with businesses to further build inclusive workplaces and increase the economic participation and independence of persons with disabilities”.
The deadline to submit applications is March 6, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Standard Time
