Funding supports projects empowering seniors to share their knowledge, skills and experience
May 8, 2018 – Thornhill, Ontario -- The Hon. Kent, Member of Parliament for Thornhill, is encouraging local organizations to propose projects that are led or inspired by seniors and present an innovative and creative approach to address community concerns.
The NHSP call for proposals is open until June 15, 2018
Organizations are invited to apply for funding, under the following three national priorities, projects that empower seniors to initiate and participate in activities that benefit:
- the vulnerable seniors populations,
- focus on diversity of Canada’s seniors; and
- will promote volunteerism to increase an organization’s capacity.
Eligible organizations can receive up to $25,000 in project funding. Starting this year, organizations that have not benefitted from NHSP funding during the last five years can receive up to $5,000 as part of the new small grants pilot project.
In a message to his constituents, Mr. Kent stated: “The New Horizons for Seniors Program provides resources that help local groups to plan programs for seniors. I am impressed by the remarkable contributions that seniors make to the Thornhill community and encouraged by the participation of more than 32 seniors groups in close to 90 initiatives since 2011.``
Since 2004, the Canadian Government has funded more than 21,600 NHSP projects in communities across Canada.
The call for proposals is open from May 7, 2018 until June 15, 2018.
