Thornhill, October 13, 2017 – The Hon. Peter Kent, Member of Parliament for Thornhill, is encouraging local service providers, organizations and businesses to apply for funding that will support programs that address the economic security of women in Canada and contribute to advancement of gender equality.
The Federal Government will be funding new projects through a Status of Women Canada call for proposals Support for Women`s economic security.
The Call for Proposals will fund projects under two separate themes:
Theme 1: Building Partnerships to Address Systemic Barriers, invites organizations to work together to address the institutional barriers that limit women’s economic security. These barriers include the accessibility of childcare, the wage gap, and pay inequity.
Theme 2: Increasing Private Sector Leadership and Investments in Women, encourages organizations to form partnerships with the private sector to implement solutions that advance women’s economic security. Through these partnerships, the private sector can play a leading role in helping advance gender equality in Canada.
In a personal message to his constituency, Mr. Kent stated, “this is a good opportunity for eligible organizations and businesses in Thornhill to work collaboratively to advance gender equality”.
The deadline to submit applications for projects that fall under Theme 1: Building Partnerships to Address Systemic Barriers is noon (12:00 p.m.) Pacific Time, November 27th 2017. The deadline to submit applications for projects that fall under Theme 2: Increasing Private Sector Leadership and Investments in Women – is noon (12:00 p.m.) Pacific January 11th, 2018.
